PRMA with reservation subframe protocol for multimedia services in mobile communication networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
These paper introduces a reservation subframe protocol for multimedia services in a 3rd generation mobile telecommunication system. The Packet Reservation Multiple Access (PRMA) protocol is modified to achieve more efficient bandwidth management. Simulation results show that the resulting multiple access multimedia system can serve a large number of users with low probability of packet loss, enabling the use of high compression rates for both voice and video services.

In this correspondence, a dynamic reservation multiple access (D-RMA) protocol for third generation cellular mobile radio systems is proposed and its behavior is investigated under variable multimedia traffic conditions. D-RMA is a protocol which is explicitly designed to support multimedia traffic. Its structure is based on traditional PRMA++ protocol, but in addition to what PRMA++ provides, ...

The Internet Engineering Task Force is working on extending the traditional TCP/IP model for supporting multimedia and real-time applications on the Internet. Thus, new protocols have been developed such as the Resource Reservation Protocol. With the rapid growth of mobile networks, the IETF is also working on creating and extending the existing protocols to support mobile users. This has led t...

The rapid technological advances and innovations of the past few decades have pushed wireless communication from concept to reality. The popularity of wireless communication systems can be seen almost everywhere in the form of cellular networks, WLANs, and WPANs. Packet-switched technology has been demonstrated as effective in cellular radio systems with short propagation delay, not only for da...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of a MAC protocol for vehicular multimedia communication
Medium access control (MAC) protocols, responsible for sharing the channel among users, are receiving more attention especially in vehicular networks due to the highly dynamic nature of the environment in which they operate. Typically MAC protocols were designed for one traffic class such as voice, video or data as all of them have different characteristics. In this paper, we introduce a modifi...
